Everything bigger, everything bolder: the dreams, the ambitions, the boundless creativity, the never-ending ingenuity. In the city everything is done at the highest level, all of the time. Expectations are exceeded. Conventions are defied. The bar is set (and reset) again and again.
Alive with sights and sounds and design hallmarks all its own, the city is a revolving door of energy and enthusiasm, constantly being imprinted upon by the ever changing cast of characters that call it home, and by sheer force of will, make it their own.
This season we celebrated some of the creatives who are shaping the city landscape from the skyline to the food scene and the lights that brighten some of the most sought-after urban interiors.
CARL SORENSON
When Carl Sorenson, the co-founder of Nanz Hardware, a boutique brand specializing in exquisite custom hardware, visited Manhattan during college more than three decades ago, he discovered a city filled with treasures he’s been mining ever since.

STEPHEN EARLE
Having cut his teeth as a lieutenant for boldface names such as Martha Stewart and Ralph Lauren before taking up the creative mantle at Related Companies, Stephen Earle is now bringing his discerning eye to bear on one of Manhattan’s most ambitious residential development projects to date.

MELISSA PERELLO
Chef Melissa Perello, a talented restaurateur with an equally visionary design sense, ventures south from San Francisco to Los Angeles to open her third, and most ambitious, restaurant yet.
