We’ve talked a lot about layers recently, and how a multidimensional, multifaceted approach to design can both elevate a space and ground it in a unique point of view. But when we think about layers and what it means to build on something existing and evolve it over time, we think as much about connections and people as we do about aesthetics and process. That’s why we created the Makers Alliance, a roundtable network of professionals like us who create products for the high-end design industry. More than an organization, it is a platform for individual and industry impact. Our members are all different, with unique backgrounds and experiences, but what unites us is a shared commitment to creating heirloom-quality work. As a result, the relationships are built upon trust and the conversations are deep and candid—it’s a unique and valuable collective resource.

Since we launched Makers Alliance in 2018, we’ve hosted 5 events so far in cities across the country, with our first annual Makers Alliance Retreat scheduled later this year. It’s exciting to host such a great group of people who are doing things the right way, the best way, and we’re looking forward to adding even more layers to the program in the year ahead.
